We have found you 5 Merrell shoes winter cold. I hate having shoes that are not equipped to deal with the cold weather when it comes.
This is one of the main reasons why I spend time trying products. Trial and error tend to eliminate the weaker ones.
Beyond this I read material to make sure my choice is well informed. I guess we have this in common, seeing as you are reading this.

Merrell Women’s Polarand Rove Moc Waterproof Winter Slip-On Shoe
This is certainly not the prettiest shoe you will come across. Not that it is bad looking. It just isn’t much to write home about. Beyond the looks, it delivers.
THE UPSIDE
The upper part has a smooth finish to it. It is made with an elasticity that makes it easy to pull on and to remove.
The upper part is made of waterproof leather. This will obviously keep your feet dry, which is important when it is chilly. While keeping water out, it works to let perspiration out. This makes it easier for your feet to breathe.
The interior is fully lined. There is 100g of Thinsulate insulation, for added warmth. To make sure you are warm, they also added the Merrell Active heat EVA footbed.
There is a provision for odour. It is treated with M Select Fresh, to maintain that freshness.
The midsole offers air cushion in the heel to absorb shock. It also gives you that added stability. This is all while sitting on a lightweight mid-sole.
Finally, for the snowy part. The M Select ICE GRIP is made to give you traction and grip on difficult surfaces.
THE DOWNSIDE
The shoes themselves haven’t got much of a downside. On the other hand, there have been reports of size issues. They tend to occasionally run smaller. Perhaps it is worth ordering a size larger.
Another thing is the sole may creek. This is linked to the heel.

Merrell Women’s Dewbrook Moc Waterproof Winter Slip-On Shoe
If you like the one above, this is a winner. The Dewbrook Mock’s Waterproof is a great pick. It has an easy to slip on elastic upper. This also makes it easy to remove.

THE UPSIDE
Comes with a warm polar fleece lining and Active heat insole. The air cushion is a massive addition, to absorb shock.
The outsole provides great grit.
THE DOWNSIDE
The cushioning may not be enough for some. It is a thin midsole.
The grip on wet surfaces is another thing that may disappoint you.
They are waterproof, but not completely.
The width seems a tad bit narrower than I would have expected.
There is not much arch support to speak of.

Merrell Women’s Icepack Polar Waterproof Snow Shoe
I know they say not to judge a book by cover. On looks alone, this is a winner. It is one of those shoes that fit into the ever elusive “unisex” look. It is a simple design. There are no definitive colours to speak of.
It has a full grain waterproof suede upper. The toe and heel end have durable holding patches for added comfort.
The midsole is made of a mould EVA. They are flexible and lightweight. The nylon out-shank on each shoe provides support.
The M Select dry is used on the upper to keep your feet dry in the rain. These also keep debris out.
The fleece lining is super soft. It has a 200gram insulation, which is a must for the winter.
It also has a contoured connected fit base, for flexible foot support. The sole is the incredible M Select ICE outsole, which is key for the winter. It has optimised traction if you are to wander out in the cold.
THE UPSIDE
200gram winter insulation is a great addition. The fleece lining pushes this feature even further.
It has rubber soles, which we appreciate.
It is very warm and comfortable.
They are lightweight and true to size.
THE DOWNSIDE
If you are going anywhere with temperatures below -40, these are not the shoes. The shoe below, might be a better pick.

Merrell Women’s Aurora 6 Ice Plus Waterproof Snow Boot
The Aurora 6 Ice+ are a match for the winter. They are made to keep your feet dry and warm as you venture out. If you are into winter sports or love the snow, these are a good pair to have with you.
It is clearly a more robust design, for the harsh weather conditions. There is a dribble leather upper. The front end of the shoe has a TPU waterproof shell casing.
There is an upper lease of closure in the tongue region of the shoe. It provides for a secure fit.
For warmer ankle, it has a fur cuff all around. When you slip your foot in, there is a full fur lining which feels great against the skin.
The footpad is removable which allows you to use your own insoles if you would like.
In the rear of the foot, there is a Merrell foot air cushioning. This is important for absorption of impact and shock.
The bottom of the shoes
I’d advise buying a size larger than you usually wear. That allows room for thicker socks.
THE UPSIDE
It is an incredibly warm and comfortable shoe. They are also great at keeping water out.
THE DOWNSIDE
Very difficult to put on and to remove. However, we don’t expect any less from winter boots.
Breathability is somewhat limited.
Are also rigid, which eats into the comfort factor.
They take some getting used to for walking safely on ice.

Merrell Women’s Snowbound Mid Waterproof Winter Boot
This is a perfect winter boot for all sort of winter events. It has a waterproof winter membrane. This will keep your feet dry and warm. For even more warmth, these have 200grams
The membranes are completely sealed, to keep the boot airtight and watertight. They have a soft and cosy fleece lining to keep feet comfortable and warm. The insole is treated to eliminate odour.
Merrell air cushioning is implemented on the heels to give you comfort. The outsole is made for walking. It has deep lugs to give you grip as you walk on all sort of surfaces.
The upper is made of a mixture of leather and mesh. The midsole is flexible and features an EVA foot frame. It is worth considering going half a size up when ordering. This leaves room for socks.
THE UPSIDE
The boots are comfortable, functional and waterproof.
They are also extremely lightweight, contrary to what the looks would suggest.
The upper part guarantees waterproofing. They also have good ankle support.
THE DOWNSIDE
The lace attachments are not as strong as they should be.
Another issue is that the soles are not as durable as they must be.
The stitching could have also been done better.

Merrell Women’s Thermo Vortex 6″ Waterproof Snow Boot
The Thermo Vortex 6 inch is a great waterproof boot for snow and the rain. It is made of a combination of leather and mesh. They have thick polythene.
The boots are fully lined and insulated. This is courtesy of 200grams of Thinsulate insulation. They are very breathable, which is handy when you are out for a hike or other physically demanding activities.
There is a conductor fleece lining on the inside. It makes sure that you have both comfort and warmth. An EVA midsole also makes it more comfortable for treading on harder terrain.
The Merrell air cushion in the heel adds to this, by giving that much-needed shock absorption. The tread pattern on the bottom gives good traction on all sort of surfaces.
Right around the shoe is a rubber lining, that keeps water out and insulates. For this one, we encourage you to get half a size larger than you usually wear.
THE UPSIDE
When you buy these boots you get warm shoes. You get shoes that are well insulated and waterproof.
The Vibram polarise grip outsole give you all the traction you may need when out on a wet surface, as well as on the ice.
They fit well straight out of the box, with no need for breaking in.
The arch support on these is incredible!
THE DOWNSIDE
The eyelets on the laces are a let down, if you pull too hard.
They are also very narrow boots, especially on the front end.

With all these great boots considered, it is important to think about what you are looking to use them for. Buy the pair that best fits into the weather conditions that you will face.
